Ok after weeks of umming and ahhing, I've just about decided on the bits for my new build. Would appreciate any comments or suggestions of anything I should change before I hit the buy button:

CPU: Phenom II 940
Mobo: Asus M3A79-T Deluxe
Cooler: Thermalright TRUE Black 120
Case: Hiper Osiris Gun Metal Black

The above is what I'm planning to buy, and adding the following kit I already have:

GFX: Zotac 280GTX
RAM: 2x2GB OCZ SLi PC2-6400
PSU: OCZ StealthXTreme 600W
Plus 2x1TB drives and a DVD/RW.

Think it should be a fairly nice rig - for lots of gaming, but also running a few virtual servers.

Yes it looks good but it depends weather you want to trust amd after their terrible past!
You might be better stretching to i7 as it will keep its value better and overclock better. Personally i would even prefer a Q9550 and a decent motherboard then that.

Thanks all.
Not sure on AMDs "terrible" past - they've obviously dropped the ball of late, but the Phenom 2's seem to be doing ok for the price.

Much as I'd love to stretch the extra £200 for i7, I really can't justify it. However am still slightly tempted to changed for a C2Q and maybe a P45 board..... aaargh!! :D

Oh and I already have the OCZ PSU. Got some decent reviews, and has been great so far. Thx for the advice tho - will look to get another modular one at some point, so maybe a Seasonic or Corsair.

Thx for all the feedback. I'm so indecisive :D

I eventually ordered the build from my first post. I figured I know what I'm getting with Intel, but fancied a change for change's sake :) Looking forward to building this tomorrow, think it should run quite nicely.

I'm prob not expecting to get the kind of oc I would from the Q9550, but as long as the TRUE keeps it cool (and quiet) and I can get maybe 3.4-3.6 from the 940, that'd be good. Am interested to see how the PhenII goes, would be nice to think that AMD are at least semi-back-in-the-game.

Cheers
Daz
