Erm, at a computer.
Finished buiding my new machine last night. Got to the moment of truth, plugged everything in and powered up - but i got absolutely nothing on the screen, there's a signal but just a black screen with the power button flashing on it.

Took the side of the case of and everything seems fine, the GPU fan is spinning etc, and all cables are properly inserted.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Checked the DVI/VGA cable at both ends?
Switched the cable to the secondary port on the graphics card?
Definetly got your external power into your graphics card? (such as PCI-E connections)

If you've done those, you could if you have a spare monitor test the machine on that to make sure it's not the computer if it comes on straight away. Also I'd try a quick BIOS reset by clearing the CMOS either using the header or removing the battery for 10 minutes.

Have tried a cable i know is definately working, tried both ports on the GPU, tried an LCD i know is working. I have 2 pci express leads running from my PSU into my GPU.

I have no jumper with which to reset the cmos but the manual says touching the pins with a scredriver for a few seconds will work which i have tried, tried taking out the battery but i couldnt get it out.

Im struggling to think what it could be. Any ideas?

Do you have a speaker installed onto the motherboard speaker jumper header so you can hear any beeps that the computer is making (if any) ?

Without wishing to sound like a complete idiot, how do i attach a speaker to the motherboard speaker jumper? My mobois a gigabyte P35C DS3R
