Hi,

I have just purchased the following;

However, I have connected the HDD and the SATA DVD up to the machine, the HDD is on a normal SATA controller and I thought I would split the DVD to the other controller that is on the Gigabyte motherboards.

I cannot get the machine to boot from the DVD at all. I am not even sure I have settings right, although for HDD I have AHCI set for that and under GSATA II I have IDE (DVD connected here but nothing).

Does the system see it as a DVD or does it think it's another HDD?

have you set the first boot device to sata DVD RW?

try pluggin the DVD drive in another slot?

all the cables fastened and plugged in properly?

Settings;

Standard CMOS - IDE Channel 1 Pioneer DVD
Advanced Bios
HD Priority
1. SCSI 0 - Hard Disk
2. Bootable add in cards

First - CD
Second HD
3rd disabled

Integrated Peripherals

Onchip ide Enabled
Sata controller Enabled
SATA type AHCI
SATA Port 4/5 IDE

I think the DVD drive is now in port 4 or 5.

No discs are recognised by drive.

went one step further, just changed drive over to an old dell pc and it worked using the second sata connector, so I have something set up wrong, but I think I have tried everything, clearly not

did last resort and cleared the CMOS and loaded default settings and it worked!!

How bizzare, cheers for your interest though
