Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail

Corsair Vengeance 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel Kit

My concerns are after reading through the forum is that these memory modules are BIG and some guys have had problems with the cpu cooler going over the sticks.

Does anybody have or know if this mobo is ok for space and can maybe reccomend a good heatsink on air for overclock (I am not a big fan of water and electricity)

Thanks in advance for any info.

P.S. I like this board for it's future proofing (ivy bridge)

First of all, the motherboard you have chosen is a DUAL CHANNEL motherboard and you are buying a TRIPLE CHANNEL memory kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIG MISTAKE!

Triple channel memory is designed for boards with 6 not 4 dimms on it. I would get this kit instead.

Secondly, the DIMMS are quite a way from the CPU socket so memory getting in the way of the cooler shouldn't be a problem.

Finally, the cooler. I would get the Gelid Tranquillo. This is a capable cooler and is amazingly priced!

Just double check your components when ordering. Don't want to make a mistake like that then need to RMA the memory and get it replaced as that will take some time.

Thanks for the info....As mainly a gamer does ram realy make a difference to frame rates? I am rather a noob when it comes to pc's as you can tell but realy I am after future proofing and have £500 spare to upgrade.

my current setup is Q8400 @ 3.2
Gigabyte EP45-Ud3LR
Gigabyte gtx 560 TI OC
4 gig Kingston hyper X ram DDR2

I have been reading more than typing on the forums but my minature brain can only take in so much information at once. I have been gaming since the spectrum days (showing my age now)

Any info you tech guru's can supply my limited brain would be greatfully recieved.

Ram does give better frame rates, but no where near as many as a cpu or gpu would.

sorry got the ram wrong lol

as to gaming, for this rig, I would recommend a 6950 or GTX560Ti...

With the rig

ya I will be treating myself to another 560ti after chrimbo but funds are limited till then. I did want to sli my current rig but with only 1 slot I was kinda choked :(

All good though and thanks for the info.

ohhhh and just to add I think I will go with the ripjaw because at that price I can't say no. Thanks Surveyor and Thanks Cinderz for your help
