I've just completed a new build from the following components;

Xenon AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.20GHz Bundle - Quad Core
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 Single Slot 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)
Corsair Builder Series CX 430W ATX Power Supply (CMPSU-430CXUK)
Samsung SH-S223L/RSMN 22x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Beige/Black/Silver) - Retail
Coolermaster Elite 330 Midi Tower Case - Black

Tried to power it on, power seems fine - rear fan is running, GPU fan is running, CPU fan is running (so I would assume power is fine to all the key components) plus the RAM and CPU was prebuilt by Overclockers so I doubt there would be any problems there. However I'm receiving no visual on my monitor.

At first I thought it may be a lack of drivers on the GPU so I tried the onboard VGA slot and still the same problem, any ideas? Surely it must be something stupid that I'm missing? ...or at least I hope so!

4 or 8 pin for cpu power connected & power to gpu, if this has two power connections connect both.

This is the part where I assume I may be going wrong.. I have no 4 pin power connections from the PSU asides from the detachable one on the 24 pin input, which is already plugged into the 24 pin port.

Incidentally the 6 pin port is plugged into the PCI-E GPU too.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 if that's any help?

your psu will have a 8pin that splits into two 4pins.

the motherboard has a 4pin by the cpu socket, stick it in.

Ugh, I'm such a moron, cheers mate.

Definitely making some progress, getting the initial one beep from the motherboard now but still no visual on the monitor..

Have you got the monitor cable plugged into the back of the actual 5770 and not the motherboards outputs?

Try re-seating the 5770.

Is the monitor on?
