Built a new system, everything plugged in and checked....

When i switch the pc i get nothing on the screen, the card is a bfg 7900 gs and the fan is spinning on the card, and its pushed firmly into the pci slot... so what could it be???

Ive tried both monitor ports on the back of the card with no avail..
The monitor is obviously in stand by mode when switching the pc on, ive tried 2 monitors lol..
ive put a windows xp cd in and u can hear the pc's hdd chirping away, just doesnt sound like i can have anything out of the gfx card?

its an asus a8n-e

any ideas?

btw ive checked the ram that hes given me....

its this

Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT Platinum CAS2 (MY-082-CS)
This memory is designed to run at 200MHz memory speed (400MHz DDR). Offering outstanding performance and reliability for todays memory hungry applications. Memory timings of 2-3-3-6!

Price: £74.99 (£88.11 Including VAT at 17.5%

and the motherboard recommends

Memory support 4 x 184-pin DDR dual-channel support for up to 4GB unbuffered, PC2100, PC2700 & PC3200
(DDR266, DDR333 & DDR400) DDR or ECC memory

surely its nothing to do with the memory?

Try 1 stick in different slots, then try the other.

I'm using the same ram on a 939 setup, different board though with no problems, not thats conclusive proof you havnt got duff stuff, but never had issues with Corsair myself.

You got a spare small stick around somewhere you could borrow for testing?....

Are all power connectors in the board and vid card (if it needs one)?

i dont think its nothing to do with the memory tbh? surley if i switch the pc on a message should pop up on boot up saying memory fault or something?

but im getting nothing out of this gfx card, yes the gfx card has 2 power cables coming off it, ive tried connecting both and 1 with no avail.

Ran out of ideas now and need some help lol

Make sure you've also connected the 4-pin power cable onto the Mobo, I overlooked that + had the same as you... fans on GPU etc spinning but no signal.

hey thanks for the reply. i was flicking thru the manual and looked at the ATX POWER SUPPLY, and plugged the big power supply in but like u said i overlooked the 4 pin power cable. and placed the cable to one side cause i never thought it would be a power cable for somthing id be using....

Re read the manual and found that the 4 pin plug should have been plugged in DOH!...how stupid of me! lol

2 hours of my time wasted scratching my head! lol

Ah well its all fine now, creating a partition on the new hd and formating it, taking ages!!! but my first build has been a fun one so far lol

Cheers everyone
