I didn't put this in the windows category as I fear my HDD might be the issue.

Ok so here's my build.
AMD 3600
MSI B550 Tomahawk
32gb of DDR4 3600 Corsair Vengeance
750 super flower psu
GTX 1070
SSD V And 860 Evo m.2 1tb

Here's my dilemma, I firstly tried installing W7 from usb, but couldn't boot from it for some reason. I read the drive had to be usb2 not usb3 and with not having one I decided to connect up a tempory dvd drive and use the disc. Now with the install I access boot option on post and choose the DVD ROM and press any key to proceed. It then freezes on the next step Starting Windows. I wondered if it could possibly be that my m.2 is the older version V-nand.

If I go into bios, settings, advanced and click on NVME self test. Under status it says Not Support.

Might need integrating some drivers of essential compoants into Win7 installation.
That Windows installer needs to be able to access hardware to do its job.
Enabling CSM in BIOS might also help.
Certainly disable any Fast Boots etc.

Ok, I have enabled csm in bios, saved and restarted. I now get past the screen I was stuck and am now at the Install windows screen. I am stuck though as my keyboard and mouse aren't lit up and don't work.
Any ideas?

Try installing W10. You don’t need to enter a serial number or activate it. If that goes on okay you’ll know that it’s a W7 compatibility problem.

And why W7 in the first place? If you want to continue using Windows you’ll have to accept the inevitable eventually.

Hi guys, firstly thanks for your help.

On this motherboard there is only one usb2.0, the rest are usb3.0. I tried the mouse by itself in the usb2.0 with no luck. I did a bit of searching last night and apparently the only way to get a mouse to work is through the ps/2 input but I didn't have one with ps/2.

I have now got a bootable W10 installation of a usb drive, that is currently installing windows.

I did have my boot priority as usb then HDD and on the first restart during the install process went back to the enter the serial key stage. I have now changed it around so HDD is number one in boot priority. It looks like its now working properly. I purchased a serial key online yesterday incase that was in fact the issue.
