Hey everyone,
So I've been using a Macbook Pro 2009 since it was released and it's done me fine for the past 3 years, however I've now finished with University and can no longer use their machines for work and rendering, so I need to do my own build to continue working on new projects, I've set a budget of about £1,500-£2,000.
I've picked the parts and it's come to just under £2,000, I was just wondering what you thought of the build. I'm mainly going to be using it for VFX work eg. Houdini, Maya, Nuke, Photoshop (Not worried about gaming). Thanks
CPU - Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz
Motherboard - Asus P9X79 PRO Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
Storage -
Intel 330 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001)
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001)
Graphics Card - Quadro 4000
Memory - Corsair Dominator 32GB (4x8GB) PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMP32GX3M4X1600C10)
Cooler - Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Silver (Socket LGA 2011/1155/1156/1366/775/AMD AM2/2+/AM3)
Case - BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Case - White/Black
PSU - OCZ ZS Series 750W PSU
I've always been fairly technical but I've haven't put my own build together before apart from installing a few graphics cards or hard drivers.
One of the things I was wondering was whether anyone had any opinions on what GPU would be best, as I've been trying to choose between the supposedly professional Quadro 4000 and the FirePro v7900. But then do I go for the savings and get a GTX 580/680 which I can have for at least £200 less. Also is 32gb of memory overkill? Thanks for the help.
Edit: Sorry guys
