Hello! I think this build is just in my budget, a tiny bit over, but can anyone suggest anything thats about the same but maybe a bit less?

I'm over by 20ish euro at the moment. Maybe a diff graphics card? Not sure, I'm a bit out of the loop. :)

Thanks a lot, and criticism would be really appreciated.

agree with comments above. (although not familiar with 9800 1gb version ;) instinct tells me 4850)

PS: can save a few quid if you get e8400 instead of q6600 if you want a gaming rig

It works out a bit more expensive if I were to swap the 9800GT for an ATI 4850 512mb and swap the psu to a corsair 520w, would it be a big gain?

not if you swap cpu for e8400, which is about £30 cheaper than a q6600. if you game a dual core is enough, if you do video, encoding then go for quad

I do a bit of encoding so I think i'll go for quad, but games wise would there be much difference from a e8400 to a q6600?

thanks a lot :D

ah great :D would the stock cooler be okay for 3ghz i hope? :P

i don't know, i always use aftermarket coolers, but 3ghz isnt a huge OC so maybe enough. anyway you can try with stock cooler and see if temps are ok, obviously a better cooler would lower temps. if temps are too high then get a cooler like Noctua, Tuniq or Thermaright, or can get a cheaper one like artic freezer 7

yeah might end up getting one after christmas or something. Do you know what general highest okay temp is?

Edit: off to bed! I'll check it in the morning, thanks guys, really appreciated.

i don't have a q6600 so can't really say for sure. but i would imagine you don't really want to push past 60c at full load.

anyway plenty of peeps have q6600 on forum so am sure some1 can be more accurate than myself :)

Thank you :) Anyone else got any ideas?

Off to bed, i could probably find it in the morning so no worries if no one replies :D
