Hi folks, I'm just about to order stuff for a new build. If anyone would like to cast an eye over for compatibility problems or suggestions. I'm thinking of a mild overclock to 3 GHz but cool, quiet and stable is the name of the game. Not sure, may go for the X1900gt 256mb, good cheap card and get one of the new jobs (r600) in a few months.

thanks Stu

It all looks good unsurprisingly given you've gone pretty near top of the range for everything, just a few points though, you might find that onboard sound is good enough for you unless you need extra ports/features that the Audigy4 offers.

The X1900GT as you suggest or even the X1900XT might be a better choice unless you are playing at very high resolutions as both are cheaper and I don't think the X1900XT is that much slower.

I don't know how well the motherboard overclocks although Intel motherboards are normally very stable, if overclocking you may want to consider Gigabyte or Asus(who seem to have combined the best of both worlds this time round).

Finally I'd probably not bother with the Raptor personally, they are very expensive and don't offer huge performance boosts over the 7200.10 range now which also have far greater capacity and are cheaper.

If you want to buy a 1950 you might aswell buy the 1950 master card. In a couple of years it will probaby be hard to get hold of this card meaning you could get more money for a re-sale. You should only buy a 1950 if you're gaming on a resolution above 1600 1200.

Not sure on the Corsair PSU i'd stick to the old faithfull (Enermax, Seasonic, Tagan).
