Whats the uses going to be for this PC?

One thing I personally would do is get four sticks of RAM to get the quad channel benefit from that chipset.

Do you use a Nvidia card for the benefits of CUDA? if not then a 7950? or wait for Kepler which is supposedly due in April.

Intended for gaming. playing mostly Riftgame at the moment, but prob some Skyrim in the furture.

Heres an alternative using a i5 2500K.

• sli/crossfire board also supports ivybridge when thats released.

• not included a case as the above build is so much cheaper you could get a bigger, better one?

• review of the k2 cooler - http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/alpenfoehn_k2_cpu_cooler_revisited,11.html - I changed the PSU to, the XFX is made by Seasonic:)

I'd get a 7950/70 for the extra VRAM over the 580 - if you're into BF3 etc you'll be needing the extra head room!

EDIT:
Out of curiosity, what level are you on RIFT? ;D

gaming at 1920x1200 and the game thats my current fav seems to perform best with the nvidia cards, is the reason i opted for the 580.

The way i see it i'm only 1-200 more for the 2011 socket, and its quad channel memory, more future proofed?

50 rogue, 50 Cleric, 38 Mage, 32 Warrior, all crafts to 300 other than apoth.
The rogue is my main and is rank 28 as well, Cleric is only rank 9 i think.
Great game, i play on american servers due to friends over there, on the Faeblight server.

more future proofed?

Errr, not really.

Socket2011 is getting Ivybridge-E, while socket 1155 will have Ivybridge in a month or two.

But then theres something called Haswell (next year?) which uses yet another socket design.
