Hi guys!

I'm looking to build the following build next week and would like to check that I am not forgetting anything and the components I have picked are suitable. I am a student so do not need an OS and will not be requiring a case, optical and HDD.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £199.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £113.99
1 x MSI 970A-G46 AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £57.95
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £55.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G1600HC9DC01) £49.99
Total : £487.51 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Thanks in advance

Looks okay,

What is your current case?

With a 8320 you'll really need a cooler, it runs pretty hot and overclocking it helps.

Its also worth spending an extra £10 on a better Motherboard. As the 8320 uses a lot of power the boards pahse cooling is really important. The ones you've picked uses 4+1 cooling whereas mine uses 8+2 cooling. This will help achieve better overclocks and reduce BSOD's.

What is this rig for? Just gaming? :)

This is an AMD spec.

Just Gaming. The case is going to be a Corsair 200r as I have vouchers to spend.

What sort of overclock could I achieve with the above setup? And how well would it run games like Skyrim, BF4, Thief?

Thanks for the improvement!

Just to support Doomedspeed's advice - The OEM cooler is not only very loud but is also incredibly crap. Get a 3rd party one even if you don't overclock
