Hi, just checking that this will be enough to start upgrading my system. I have a case, KB, monitor, HDs, OS etc that should do for now. Will use onboard graphics and get a graphics card at a later date. Looking for a decent future-proof(!) system for now, that I won't have to upgrade but can add to as budget dictates :) Mostly used for surfing, music, watching video etc, not really gaming much. Ta!

Could you post your current spec up, so we can identify where you need to upgrade?

It'd also be helpful to know what case you have too, for Cooler, motherboard and PSU sizes.

Are your uses just going to be surfing, music, watching video etc? or do you want this to be a gaming rig?

Unless your going for a Daul GPU (290's or above) setup (or venturing inot heavy video editing) the i7 won't be worth the extra over the i5 4690k.
 
Most of my system is around 10 years old, well overdue an upgrade :(

The case is an Antec midi tower, PSU is a Corsair CX500 and I have a Nebula PCI TV card which I was planning to hold on to. Not much use for the rest of it.

I'd say gaming will be minimal, though I may start again at some point.

Do you know the case model no at all, just want to check its got 160mm CPU cooler clearence..

For what you're uses are you could get this and save £100 easy.

This gives you the ability to OC and add a GPU to blast through games.

You'll see ZERO difference between the i5 and i7 for your uses.. Well worth the saving.
