Hello OC UK,

Just finished ordering all of my parts and just awaiting delivery so I can build my first ever gaming PC.

Spec:-
Intel i5 4670K
MSI Z87 G45
Asus GTX 770 2gb
2x4GB 1866mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM
Corsair 600M power supply
Corsair carbide 200R case
120GB Samsung EVO SSD
1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Samsung 24x DVD writer
TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express x1 Network Adapter

I have 2 real issues I'm struggling with at the moment, due to me not really knowing details about cooling/fan setup.

Firstly due to me probably wanting to OC my system at some point in the future [not hugely], would a Cooler master hyper TX3 EVO do a sufficient job cooling my CPU?

And with regards to case fans, I know there is a stock intake on the front and an exhaust at the rear. I was just wondering how many more fans could I fit into my case, and how to power the fans if there is only 3 slots on my motherboard? [Sorry if this is really nooby/could be completely wrong]

And does anyone have any advice with regards to the build?

Thanks
Regards

Andy

Hi Andy.
Welcome to OcUK.

For case fans I suggest 20-50% more intake cfm than CPU and GPU fans combined cfm. Setup the cooling so cool intake goes to CPU and GPU without any of their heated exhaust mixing to it and you will have a great cooing system. You might find this cooling cooling guide useful

You can control all case fans with CPU and GPU PWM signal. It's explained in the link.

Regrettably 200R limits you to 160mm coolers and most of the top coolers are 161-171mm tall. At 52.5mm Corsair Vengance is quite tall and often interferes with coolers & fans.

Good news is Alpenfohn Matterhorn Pure will fit and is only £29.99

Good news is Silverstone HE01 is 160mm tall and 48mm center of CPU to front of cooler. £59.99

Good news is NH-D14 will fit in your case, but bad news is RAM is 2.5mm too tall.. depending on how close to CPU it is. The front of cooler is 62mm from center of CPU.
Bad news it's not in stock either. £65.99http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-011-NC&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2346

Thanks for that reply. Made things a lot more clear.

I would like some help with the actual setting up of the fans?

I'm guessing I should put the 2 stock fans into the PSU. And maybe get 4 extra ones and run them off the motherboard?

Does that make sense?

Also what positions would you set the fans up in?

I really am new to this so any help is good help

Cheers guys :)

Prolimatech Megahalems is a top cooler as well, and is 158.5mm tall.
You should be ok with taller ram as well. I used Avexir sticks with it plus 120mm fans and it fit very well.

Okay, I'm assuming you read the link on case cooling?

What fans do you have now and how much do you want to spend?

Edit: Sorry you have the 2x stock fans.
Link below explains how to control case fan speed automatically.

I would expect 2 or 3 good intake fans would be plenty.
Are you using your 5.25" bays? If not a intake fan in it would be helpful.

Raise your case up so there is 30-40mm clearance between can and what it sets on and install a bottom intake.
