hi, recently made a new computer, and every so often it crashes, sometimes to a blue screen 'IRQL' error and sometimes it just reboots. The trend seems to be it crashing when Im using the internet, and downloading, all drivers are up to date, just can't seem to work out what it could be. Any thoughts would be apreciated.

Tried memtest, didn't show any errors.... For example I was on firefox earlier, left it for an hour to download stuff, it was fine, as soon as I started using it it went to the blue screen...

Maybe if you post your specs you might get a few more replies.
Does it always BSOD after its been turned on for while, or is it just completely random? Does it BSOD if left to idle?

Hi, the specs are

Asus p5QC motherboard
ATI 4870 512mb
Q6600
OCZ 4GB (2x2) Ram
650w power supply
WD 640GB HDD
Vista 64

It's always BSOD at some point during me using it, usually if I leave it idle for a few hours it's fine, doesn't crash. But it's mainly when I'm using the internet, or downloading stuff that it happens, it's not always at a set time, can happen 5 mins after I start using it or an hour.

Wonder if its your ram voltage not set high enough, unless you have changed that. Looks like your ram should be set to 2.1v, dunno what the timings should be perhaps post in the memory part of the forum.

Interesting, I looked in the BIOS and couldn't see where I could change things with regards to the RAM. When I set up the PC originally I didn't really do anything with the BIOS settings, so I'll take another look.

hmm, well I changed some stuff in the bios, and started up only using 1 stick, switched both the sticks, and it still reboots on its own...
