Hi all, considering the following bundled with possibly 3080TI EVGA FTW3. Undecided on Graphics Card. Open to suggestions on 3080, 3080TI and 3090. Don't like idea of 3090 and thermal pads if you was to do a spot of mining, so wondered if the 3080TI was cheaper and avoided the heat?
Does this look decent? Is there anything that you would swap out? Not done a build for 12 years, so just taking a look this morning.
Any feedback please let me know

Build looks ok overall but few changes to consider.

Intel vs AMD. Actual real competition in the market now and a 12700k or 12600k system should be considered. You can still stick with DDR4 , no real advantage to DDR5 at moment

£600 for 5900x WTF!!! I paid £480 less than 6 months ago so not sure what happened to the prices. Price on 5x00 AMD chips should be falling due to Intels real copmpetition. All I can think of is they are artificially pushing prices up to get ready for what looks like big reductions around Black Friday.

Motherboard. You can now get X570s mobos that do not have a chipset fan so one less thing to go wrong. X570s Msi Tomahawk would be my recommendation.

PSU. Would get the RMx 850w and not the HX 850w.

If you can get a 3080 for a sensible price I would say go for that and not a 3080ti or 3090. Price to performance is terrible at the moment.

Thankyou so much for the feedback. Really appreciate the time out.
The build I put together was to show the parts and to see if anyone thought that others were better.
PSU, Motherboard and Memory are the parts I have little info on.

The CPU I can get for £446 elsewhere (unsure if this changes the recommendation or if Alderlake is better?), Likewise, case £80 and Motherboard less than £300. I can't mention competitors on here however.

Why would you say that the RMx 850 would be best? I saw 3 850w by Corsair and all within £40 of each other.
The motherboard I just saw as an Auros and seemed that the prices have skyrocketed since my last build. I will take a read of the one you suggested however.
I'm looking at the cards and it's around;
3080 £1,200
3080TI £1,500
3090 £2,400
They all can mine themselves back after 10-14minths currently. However the 3090 is hell of a lot of money should mining go south (may have missed the boat on this scene)
This is the only reason I went for the TI as 3080 seems so expensive, unless I can get an FE for £649 lol

Maybe I should wait until Black Friday or do some more research. Though I always tend to read and not buy. Did this a few years ago and talked myself into waiting for the 5 series over the 3 and now Intel have fought back :0)

Corsair RMx range are that companies newest platform and is apparently the best of their psus for the price. Prices go up and down like yoyos so is hard to say what is best value at any point in time. Other good psu. Seasonic Focus/Prime. Asus/MSI/Phanteks all made by Seasonic for high end models. Bequiet.

Alderlake is better, that is a simple fact but it does not make the Ryzen 5x00 chips bad and you do have to factor in the cost of mobo into the equation and the fact that Alderlake is brand new so going to be issues and months or BIOS updates to come. Ryzen is still relevant at the right price.

Motherboards. Can get cheap B550 mobo and will work just fine with 5900x but if you are going for X570 then look for the S versions without a chipset fan. Easy to overspend on motherboards and just get the one that has the features you need.

GPU - I feel your pain, market is horrendous. Certainly try to get an FE card because they are easily the best value. Even if you can only get a 3070ti it is worth it, falls behind at 4k but still amazing value compared to the rest on open sale.

Waiting for Black Friday while you keep trying to bag an FE is a good option. Look out for bundle deals , they can save you a fair buit of cash. Because you need a psu thats helpful because bundles often come with those.
