Having just built a PC for my Father I have encountered a small problem similar to one in another thread.
The case including the PSU, the mobo and the heatsink are all new. The CPU I bought in the MM all the other components are from my PC which I have replaced.
PC assembled easily enough as this was not my first time. Switched on the PC for the first time and formatted the previously used Hdd. Everything appears to be fine then, I noticed the Dvd rom is not displayed in My Computer nor, is it showing in the Device Manager. I tried this without any success which led me to the Bios.
In the Bios on IDE 1 the Hdd is Master. On the IDE 2 the Dvd rom is Slave. Now this is where I am confused! Surely the Dvd rom should be Master on IDE 2 if this is indeed correct, is it a jumper on the back of the Dvd rom?
Am I on the right track or is there something else I have missed?
Specs are as follows:
AMD 3200+ (MM bought)
1 Gb Geil PC3200 Dual (OCUK bought)
Leadtek Winfast PCX6600GT Extreme Edition (OCUK bought)
DFI NF4 Infinity
Antler case with a 350W PSU
