any chance someone can look this build over? and is there an option anywhere for OC to build this before its all sent out? would be a lot off my plate since it is a whole system, thanks

would also like to know if the motherboard would hinder performance in any way, and which sata slots it has, it just says sata in the specs so id assume 2 cause i dont know what 3 look like

sure? ofcourse not, i cant find decent enough reviews that arent biased towards the more expensive sandybridge processors, saw a few that said they were still more powerful than bulldozer series but still, a budget is what im on so i cant be picky

edit: and what about the rest? whats your opinion on them?

edit: configurator seems to have a few options that arent necessary for what im looking for, overkill in a way

edit: i believe the 1090t would be a much better choice but over the last few weeks it has went from around £135 to £192, and i have no idea why..

If it's mainly for gaming then I'd go with an i3-2120, Z68 motherboard and 8GB of RAM. Yes you wont be able to overclock it but in a year or two if you fancy a cheapish upgrade you could throw in a second hand i5-2500K/i7-2600K or even an Ivy Bridge CPU. Also the 550W OCZ ZS PSU will be more than enough for that system. Better power consumption, less heat, better upgrade path but no overclocking. If the extra cores are important (video editing etc) then consider a Phenom II X6 perhaps.

just need it for gaming really, im not into maxing out settings or overclocking, but the parts listed are a huge leap ahead of my current system which isnt particularly struggling atm but the age shows

also the i3 and a z68 would be more expensive than the ones i have on my list, would it really be that much of a difference?

Just a little more expensive yes.

Also worth considering a Phenom II X4 960T - a very high proportion are being unlocked to hex-cores and will allow you to overclock too. Should be a bit cheaper too.

you get £20 off the coolermaster silent pro 500w or 600w psu if you buy a coolermaster case(you've chosen the ellite 430). so £556

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18347004

before anyone says the cm psu is rubbish all I'll say is that stulid has suggested it at least once since the offer started.

if the total is too much then just go for a cheaper cpu for the time being and upgrade in the future.

edit: damn it boxer while I was typing :(

you can save £15 by going for the z68ap-d3 as no way you can xfire on the 530w psu. change the psu to the cm silent pro(its modular so easier cable management) and you've basically got the same spec as me(if you change the i2500k in my spec to the cpu you've chosen it'll identical)

does that psu have 2 6 pins? if so, very nice, a total £40 increase is well within reason if you think that this cpu and board would be better

edit: that was at shadow boxer, appreciate the help aswell fowler* (sorry :)) but im just looking at what i need for now

as I said in my spec just drop the cpu down, the psu I've got is modular and more 'juice' which gives you a bit extra 'headroom' for higher spec graphics card + other upgrades. coss the same as well when you use the voucher code.

@fowler002 - agree that the Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular is a good PSU but I think it probably pushes the budget up a bit too much, esp with an i5 2500K, but getting the i3 instead could be decent option. The Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 will be fine too, gets good reviews and will save you £15.

how many time do I have to say it DROP THE CPU DOWN TO THE I2100 if the i2500k is too much. the psu is also the same price as the be quite you've speced as they have the £20 off offer(be quite + case £40 + £40 = £80, cm silet pro + the case £60+40 = £100 - £20 = £80)

my spec comes to £472 if you drop down to the i2100 same as yours if you change down to the z68ap-d3

edit: changed the cpu

cmdouble code knocks another £20 off so £472(£84 less than the i2500k spec)

oh forgot to mention new graphics cards are just around the corner and not all will cost £500+, there will be sub £200 card in the coming weeks which if the reports are correct will have 6970 matching performance.

jpod the 6870 is the best i could afford :p anything higher and the price starts to jump considerably

and thanks to you others, end spec looks very nice indeed, just wondering how long that cooler master code is gona last since i dont have enough to buy just yet, and im still in need of a new hdd (no idea when this will happen since the prices are still too steep)

well the ode has been active for the past 2 weeks, no mention of a end date in the thread I linked to.
