Just put a new PC together. CPU is a 6750 with stock HS. The sides are off the case as I jsut want to make sure everything works before tidying up the cabling etc. The BIOS is reporting a CPU temp of 82C. I am not overclocking. Also the Pc just turns off after a few minutes when sat at the BIOS screen???

Any ideas?

Are you sure the heatsink is seated correctly? The Intel HSF can be a PITA to fit.

Thats way too hot, check you got the CPU HSF seated properly, them pins can be a bugger sometimes and not latch onto the motherboard correctly.

Damn to slow

Cheers guys - gonna check that now. Is the PC turning off related to the temps - the BIOS warning for CPU temp is 80C and shutdown is set to 90C.

Clear plastic???

I have noticed that two of the plastic legs have splayed. Pressed them back together with a pair of pliers but they just splay again on trying to fit the damn thing :(

There is no plastic on the Intel cooler.

Fit two opposite corners first, and then the final two.

Well that was fun. Managed to get it in, CPU now at 26C with sides off. Think I'll leave it at the BIOS screen for a while just to be sure its all ok.

Thanks again for the advice guys. :)
