I have a teenage daughter who up until now has been gaming on her laptop. She currently plays Roblox, Sims 4, Minecraft and Fortnite, but i expect her interest in PC gaming to increase. I'd like to get her a system that will perform far in excess of what she currently has. Budget is around £1000 and she already has monitor and peripherals sorted. I also have a 2080 Super that she can re-use from my system which i believe should be fine for the games she is currently playing. We can look to upgrade GPU and other parts down the line and i'm also happy to start with the stock AMD cooler for now.

Any thoughts on the following? Any cheaper/better options for similar price?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £713.95 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Ryzen 5 7600 at £200 is a con/waste of money. Get C30 RAM for like £5 more. Get a 2TB SSD 990 Evo can be had for £90.

M-ATX as that's my personal preference.

- Better motherboard.
- Better CPU (albeit not by much on average, you could save £40 and just get the 7600, however there are some scenarios in one or two games where it has around a 20-30% uplift over the 7600).
- Better NvME, I'd normally spec 2tb but since you went with 1tb I figured it was fine.
- Perfectly decent PSU for a good chunk less.
- Top tier air based HSF rather than the stock at a great price, would be ample for 99% of future CPU upgrades on the platform.
- Blinged it up a bit, all of that can be turned off or toned depending on user preference.
- Case actually comes with fans fitted.

I don't think the Lian Li O11 variants come with any fans, so something like Lian Li's 216 or Antec's C5 ARGB is better value if you want full size ATX. Montech 903 / 903 MAX is cheaper still.

These aren't bad PSUs, but considering they only have a 5 year warranty I'd say they're overpriced.

I often do stock cooler builds and I'm comfortable with that, but for £1000 budget? I'd just get a cooler like the peerless assassin, doesn't cost much and nicer for "quality of life".

As mentioned by @Tetras, otherwise that's a grand looking build imo and one I'm sure your daughter will be happy with.

Hell, I'm confident most of the middle aged blokes on this forum would be tbh!

If you want to bling things up a little more with the black/white look these are worth considering:

RGB/Bling isn't really my cup of tea, but for the price difference I imagine a teenaged kid would be into it, I would have been many moons ago.

i have the same ram and cooler in my case and they are awesome but i had to raise the front fan on the cpu cooler a wee bit to clear the ram sticks :)

looks a nice solid build, she is gonna love it :)
