Hi all i'm new here and hoping some off you can help me with a suggested spec for a new PC to use mainly for photo editing with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Other uses are Microsoft Office and internet. I dont stream video much except youtube tutorials etc

My thoughts are as LR and Photoshop do not use many cores at the moment i thought i would stick with I7 rather than AMD and spend money on ram and SSD's

So my suggestion is:

Intel i7 7700K quad core 4.2ghz CPU
Cooler Master Air3 Pro CPU cooler
Asus Z270A Mobo
Initially 32GB 2x16GB Leaving room for additional 32GB if required
Cooler master 650w modular PSU
Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX960 graphics (already own in old pc)
Samsung SSD 840 Evo 500GB System Disk (already own in old pc)
Samsung SSD 840 Evo 500GB Programs (Lightroom and Photoshop etc)
Sandisk SSD a240 Scratch disk for Photoshop and LR (already own in old pc)
Western digital WD40E31X 4TB hybrid drive for data storage and backups etc (already own in old pc)
2 x DVD recorders (already own in old pc)
Lian Li P7 case with 3 fans and USB 3.0 front header

Any glaring mistakes or ommisions ?

Hardware.fr actually has tested LR and DxO Optics Pro:

Another series of tests:

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...ormance-Core-i7-8700K-i5-8600K-i3-8350K-1056/

The thing is looking at that the Ryzen CPUs trade blows depending on the test you are using.

If anything maybe its worth considering a Core i7 8700K or Core i7 7820X if you have a decent budget.

Edit!!

Also,TBH OP,I would probably get a secondhand Core i7 4790K and upgrade your current rig,and buy some faster drives. DDR3 is also significantly cheaper than DDR4 too.
