Hi,

Looking for a built rig for a friend to mainly carryout video editing. Also used for some gaming.

Video Editing: uses Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects.
Gaming : Fortnite etc

Budget ideally around £1000 but can stretch to £1300 if worth the extras. Windows 11 needed. No screen required. Controllable A-RGB lighting would be a bonus.

Premier Pro states:
  • 16 GB of RAM for HD media
  • 32 GB or more for 4K and higher
Storage at least 1TB.

Exsiting PC was struggling with having more than one program open at a time.

Thanks in advance.

Can you share the specs, just so that we know what an upgrade looks like?

I'd suggest something like this:

My basket at OcUK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Vector - Intel i7 12700KF, Intel ARC A770 Gaming PC (SKU: SYS-OCG-00080) = £1,217.99
    • Case: 1 x Phanteks XT Pro Ultra ATX Case Tempered Glass Window, Black
    • Memory: 1 x Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C40 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit
    • Graphics Card: 1 x Intel ARC A770 Phantom Gaming OC 16GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card
    • Cooler: 1 x Kolink Umbra Void AIO 240mm Performance ARGB CPU Water Cooler
    • M.2 Solid State Drive: 1 x Crucial T500 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 Solid State Drive
    • Operating System: 1 x Build Stock Microsoft Windows 11 Home Advanced - Systems

Total: £1,217.99 (includes delivery: £0.00)

A comparison with a DIY PC, minus Windows:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,071.86 (includes delivery: £11.98)

Thanks for this. PC is 6 years old apparently so pretty dated.

Friend has advised they prefer this Graphics card. Any thoughts?

Also Motherboard, PSU, cooler and case are on pre-order. He is looking to get this asap so any other suggestions?

There's not a huge amount between the A750 and A770, but obviously double the memory capacity is nice and might come in handy! Keep in mind that there are newer "Battlemage" cards available.

For the DIY PC, it would push the cost up if you're planning to ask OCUK to build it.

You mean the DIY, right?

This is a bit tricky.

Motherboards are mostly out of stock and the B860 boards in stock are nearly the same price as a Z890 board. You might want to shop around.

PSUs same story, hardly anything is available.

Cases, there's an Ultra version of this case which comes with a lot more cooling, but it should be sufficient.

There's a non-RGB version of the assassin for the same price, or you can spend a little more for the superior phantom spirit.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £400.91 (includes delivery: £11.98)
