Hi, could do with some suggestions for a new machine.
We need something for moving data about.
Basically we move a lot of data around between hard drives, generally laptops.
At the moment, we have a pretty bog standard PC, we plug the laptop hard drives in via USB caddies and copy the data across.
The PC we're using though is quite old and getting clunky, so we're looking to get a new 1 before this breaks down.
We want this to be as cheap as possible, since we're only using it for moving data and occasional virus scanning, again on drives plugged in via USB. But we're willing to pay extra if it means more bang for our buck.
I'm also looking for suggestions on how to speed the whole process up, I know doing it via USB is slow as hell, I did play around with eSata, bought a card and a caddy, but it was very unreliable. So we're looking for something we can plug 2.5" drives into on the fly, without turning off the machine, 2+ drives at a time.
