Built this computer couple of days ago, worked great but now experiencing some odd issues. Im on 8800gts with q6600 with vista 64

When im on desktop not doing anything very demanding the screen freezes and i have coloured dots on the screen appear and it just locks up. Ive been playing games last night for hours and had no problems , but just when im on desktop for a while it just happens. I reseated the card and hopefully it will go away and im using 169.25 drivers. Wondering if anyone knows whats happening or if theres a solution.

Thanks

Nope not done anything.

I cant seem to find in the nvidia control panel where it shows the graphic card temperature.. any ideas where it is? thanks

I use ATITool or gainward expertool to view the temp of my card. I think you can get to the nVidia control panel in the windows control panel, im not sure if it monitors the temp tho. It think i had to install some thing else from nVidia to get it to do that.

If you havent overclocked it, you may have a duff one and need to RMA it. Wait and see what other people surgest and see what the temp is first tho :)

I did disable some nvidia things in startup like i did on xp, but ive renabled them as i never used vista before and maybe it likes them to be on so meh lets see if we have any more problems.
