New Build Gainward GTX 680 Problems :( HELP!

@Kelt - I should be able to yeah on the weekend

yeah i can stick with the 680 no issue, iv'e just read 100's of stories with the same issue and came to the conclusion it wasn't a bad card but more a driver issue or conflict ?

Are there any other tests I could do to pretty much make sure it's the GPU other than trying it in another system?

I'm just going through my ram now to see if thats conflicting, SO FAR iv'e got 1 stick in and iv'e had no freezes so HOPEFULLY one of my sticks is a DOA!

I had an initial issue with my screen not coming back on after resuming from sleep after I installed the 680, mobo BIOS update fixed the problem, the update was labelled "improved GPU compatibility" Perhaps this is worth looking in to?

I also had crashing to desktop when playing BF3 after 20 mins or so, I have resolved this turning off the OSD features in Precision X apparently it's a known issue.

My system is rock solid now and has been for the past 2 weeks.

Yeah I'm getting sleep issues too, won't return to desktop when asleep so have to power off and on.

However, i'm on my 2nd stick of ram now testing and no freezing as of yet!!

Me also gregster, I always turn sleep and idle off anyway on any spec I build.

I'm on my 3rd stick of RAM atm and no issues thus far, hoping one of these sticks is conflicting or ****ed

just flashed it to P9X79 BIOS 1009 and still no change. It seemed to be stable with 1 stick even 2 sticks of ram in then from then on it kept doing the freezing / black screen kernal error poop!

Just to confirm its stable with 1 Stick of 4gb ram in?? Does that say anything? Clueless now tbh

Just FYI: Sleep Mode and Screensaver work with 1 stick of ram in also although I dont use those features (Just saying as this was an issue also)

Usually part of the bios update is to allow ram manafacturers. I was hoping this would sort your problem. Do you have your CPU overclocked? If so, I would try running with 2 sticks of ram in slots 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 for a while to see if this helps with stability.

Also as a plaster (not a perm fix) try this.

1. Open REGEDIT

2. Using Windows 7, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\GraphicsDrivers

3. Once there you will most likely have to create a new DWORD (32bit users) or QWORD (64bit users). Name it TdrDelay.

4. Once created, change the value to 8. This will allow the GPU 8 seconds to respond instead of 2 seconds.

See how that works.

I had this before with my 560ti and really really got to me. If I ran with 1 stick of ram, it was fine and even 2 was a lot better but 4 just wouldn't have it. I searched high and low and the regedit worked well but not perm fixed. After several e-mails to Gigabyte, they sent me a bios flash for the card which upped the volts. After that, not one single crash.

If you download MSI Afterburner you can add 100mv but not sure if this is actually happening on the card or not TBH (the volts are locked) but this is also worth a shot.

Hope you get it sorted, as I understand how frustrating this is.
