Hi all
So i am fairly close to making a decision on my next rig, subject to selling my current one which would go towards this.

Through OC this coming in at just shy of £3k.
I would like to think this is capable of some decent FPS 4K gaming, however open to further suggestions.
I am not too keen on going too much over the £3K mark, but if we say add on an extra 10% that should fine.

So what are your thoughts?

Welcome :)

Is this a prebuilt thing or a self-build? Firstly I'd go with 1440p, perhaps 1440p 144Hz with a monitor such as the ROG Swift, simply because 4K is still in it's infancy (sort of) and 1440p/144Hz currently is the sweet spot :)

Hi
Thanks, well this would be through the OC site, so pre-built.
I dont mind building it myself however, failry comfortable to do so apart from any overclocking where my skills are lacking (nonexistant).
Thanks for advice on monitor, it was soemthing I was cosndiering actually, the ROG seems a very popular one. I live in South of England so never really seen one in use :(

I would think you could be able to get an SLI 970 or 980 setup w/ full watercooling for £3k... including monitor - you chose a 120mm rad for cooling there but I think the minimum you should really go if you are going watercooling is 240mm for CPU only?

Think you need mr bling king ethermaster :D

mr bling king ethermaster????
woudl it be worthwhile just going for a R9 295? or are you suggesting the 980s for the g-sync benefit?
will see if I can amend the watercoooling..thanks!

If you plan on going for 290X cards then I would go for 2 of these.

YOUR BASKET
2 x MSI Radeon R9 290X LE Lightning Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £239.99 (£479.98)
Total : £489.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Obviously you would need Nvidia cards if you go for a G-Sync monitor.

Overclockers can build you something to your own spec so you don't have to stick to the pre-built stuff. So basically any basket you come up with they can build it up for you.

hmm bumbed up to £3.7K..zoyks!

I'd look at a full WC setup custom with blocks, tube res etc (should be able to fit it in easily) - I'm no good at it but sure someone will turn up to spec you :)
850W will be more than enough for that setup, or 1000W for it to last for donkeys years
16GB RAM is fine, 5820k will save a tonne of money again etc

That RAM is poor.

I had 32Gb exactly the same, its naff at overclocking and the 2nd and tertiary timings suck and are slow.

I sold it for 16GB of Gskill 2800MHz, but that affects the BCLK, so stick to 2666MHz.

I will do you a spec now for the main parts:)

I can't do watercooled specs, so here is a pre-built one. Both gpu's and cpu are watercooled.

i7 4790K and GTX 980 SLI.

If you need a wifi card then you can ask OCUK to put one in the system for you. Same goes for a DVD drive.

thansk all
this would be purely for gaming, the odd bit of downloading, some use of MS office stuff and a little photo editing but nothing hardcore like.
mostly gaming.

thansk for the suggestions, might just do one GPU for now and get another later in the year.
