This is my first build, I’m planning on spending enough for a decently spec’d computer. I’d really like some advice Incase I’ve missed something.

So far I’ve got:

Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB * 2 or 3 in raid 0 or raid 5
Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair Hydro H70 High Performance CPU Cooler
Edimax EW-7727In nMax 300Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter
Coolermaster HAF 912 Plus Case - Black

I’d like 2 gpu’s added though i’ve been advised to wait for the new 6000 amd series coming out this month.

I know it’s a little gimmicky but is there away of turning on the computer via a remote (whether by front end case mod or tc tuner) and is it possible to hook my virgin media box into the computer? I’ve a 42” tv I’d like to record tv from.

I’d really appreciate any help or advice!

The above looks very nice, though dont forget RAM :D
I wouldnt bother waiting personally, as the first batch of cards to be released are not the high end ones I assume youre looking at, these will be released later
Yes its perfectly possible to hook up your pc and virgin media box so you can copy things across
Oh and welcome to the forums btw
Edit: no PSU specced either

Thanks for the welcome!

I've added a 1,000 watt psu and 3*2 gb ocz ram. About the remote control, I want to put the comp out of the way (kids running around). Having the remote would be helpful, could you recommend something?

Also you said about virgin media box, would a standard tv card do that or would I need something specific? Software side I'll use windows media but I'm not sure bout the hardware.

thanking you in advance
