Hay guys

I have just finished building my first pc and all was going well, booted first time, installed vista 64, downloaded and installed the latest graphics card drivers, all was well with the world.

Unfortunately things have started to go wrong, sometimes when i boot up, windows will load, get to desktop to then the screen will go blank no signal, then after I shut down by holding the power button in and reboot it will be fine.
So I have down loaded 3dmark05 and tried to run it twice, the first it crashed after about 3 tests, the second time it got a little further and blue screened with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

The specs for my rig are:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black
Asus P5B (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II
Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 256MB

I am now running memtest to see if there are any problems with RAM, but I think it could be a problem with the graphics card or drivers. If anyone has any suggestions I am starting to run out of ideas.

OK, Thank you.

I think you could be right because when I restarted a while ago there was some corruption on the screen and windows told me that ati control panel had not loaded properly.

I will run driver cleaner pro and try some different drivers and see how it goes.

I just googled IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and it seems that it often caused by overheating.
so I have installed speed fan to check temps and all seem normal except the AUX which reads 122C with a little flame next to it.

What the hell is AUX and should it be so hot??

Woohoo!!!

After 3 days of stress and head scratching I thint I have finalily got my system working stable and quite :D .All the hours I sent messing around with drivers and ram it turns out the HSF wasn't fitted properly.
So I have just taken it off, cleaned it with meths, put new goo on and bobs your uncle all stable and good. Funny hows its always the simple things.

I have just finised running 3dmark05 and got 10719, the highest score for my config apparently :p.

I would just like to thank the forums for all the help and advise I was given, I could'nt have done with you :)

Now I'm off to install some proper games.
