Just built myself a new core Skylake rig and need graphics suggestions, budget is around £300 mark, I've been looking at the 390X for that price is there anything else I have missed? or any specific card I should be looking at? thanks.

MOBO: Asus Maximus VIII Formula
CPU: I7 6700K
RAM: G Skill Ripjaws V 3200 16GB

sapphire 390 Nitro around 260£ is the best bang for the buck, you dont need the X version 10% perf for 80£ isn't worth it.
you have 970 also at the same price, but the 4Go memory kinda makes it a bad pick for me

As above, sapphire 390 is the best of the 390s, no need to spend more on the x as it not worth it (I have one), 970s have too many potential future issues IMO (3.5+5 memory and little nvidia driver optimization for older generation cards).

New cards are to be released fairly soon so it may be worth waiting if you can.

I see the 390X and R9 Nano' are around the same price, is it worth the extra money for the Nano? Or just wait for the new architecture to come out?

I'd pick a 390 over a nano every time. Nano only have 4GB VRAM, which will limit you in the future.

I'd try and wait, Have you got any card at the moment? If so wait and try to increase what you have to spend by saving and then you can jump on a nice 14/16 nm card in a few months time. If you have not got a card a 390 is a great option although as I did with the 290x I think it is worth getting the x over the pro. But whether you do or not if it's AMD make it a Sapphire and if it's Nvidia make it an EVGA.

I have always in the past gone Nvidia, but as of last month I went and go my first AMD and got the 390. Very pleased with it's performance.

Thanks guys think I'll wait it out for a little while to see what this next gen brings then.

IMO you've cut significantly into your graphics card budget by spending a lot on a premium motherboard and an i7. Games tend not to take full advantage of a strong CPU, so I would personally prefer to settle for an i5 and a lesser motherboard if it means getting a £500 graphics card.

Don't get me wrong I could push it to £500 if I could really justify the extra £££'s, but I'd rather get the best bang for buck at around the £300-£350 mark with an eye for possibly SLI or XFire in the future when more power is needed, I think that's maybe the more cost effective option? Or maybe not...

dont worry about it, cpus last a lot longe than a gpu so getting the best is better. unlike getting the best gpu.

go for the AMD. the 390 looks like a beast of a card. im on a 970 atm and its a great card. but the 390 beats it at everything.

Until very recently I had 2 MSI 390X's fantastic cards good Temps and very very quiet cards and if I had not totally messed up with monitors I would still have an MSI 390X ..... I needed 3 x display port connections and the MSI only had one :( so they had to go.
