Hi guys I've not had a desktop pc for around 4 years as I've not had the time or the space so I had a gaming laptop which was more convenient, just moved into a bigger flat with more space and the other half has agreed to me finally getting a new desktop pc !

I'm so out of date with components these days that I really don't know where to start.

I'm looking to spend around 1000 on the box and then I will be looking for a 144hz gaming monitor also but back when I played a lot there were only a few to choose from (120hz) and now there seem to be a million ranging from £200 anywhere up to £600, dont really want to spend 600 quid on a monitor and don't "think" I want 27" but then again I don't know what the standard size is these days.

Would prefer to go intel and nvidia over amd also, pc will only really be used for games.

Ideally would like something that is next to silent as its going to be in the lounge and I don't want my gf to be moaning about fan noise etc.

Thanks in advance to everyone helping and pointing me in the right direction.

If I was in your position, I'd go for a cheaper 144hz monitor and change the GTX 970 for a GTX 980ti.

Also I just looked up that specific headset and it's got really mixed/bad reviews tbh... People swear by the HyperX Cloud II headsets, so maybe look at getting that instead? They are essentially the same price, although out of stock in OCUK atm.
