Ok i'm looking to build a total future proof pc, hopefully one that will last me around 5-6 years without needing to update the "main parts" (unless they die)
i would say my budget is around £800-900

So far ive thrown this together

¬Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
¬Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366)
¬G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Dual Channel Kit??
¬Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 850W Power Supply??
¬Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme Rev.C
¬Silverstone Fortress
¬ATI Powercolour 4870

But not exactly sure on the ram, Imo i find the corsair dominator ram abit to high priced? atm for myself anyways, what would you guys think on this exact setup? it will be running windows 7 on solid state drives when i find the money to get them lol, Thanks.

You ideally need triple channel memory with i7 like this set, Personal choice on the psu would be something like the Corsair 650w or 750w - both available in modular form.
I would change the GPU to the ATI 5770.

Edit: Dropped the board to the Gigabyte.

+1 far better build with the extra ram and a Mobo I think is a lot more reliable
