Hii all,

was hoping for a little advice on the compatibility of the components and my current hardware,

CPU

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3)

Motherboard

Asus Crosshair V Formula AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] =MB-461-AS

Ram

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Powersupply

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 850W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] =CA-039-CS

the hardware im going to be putting in for the time being is

nvidia 2x8800 gfx card for time being....

and will be raiding my 2x ssd drives

and putting in my thermaltake kandalf case.

im buying those core parts because i have given up on my amd 64 3200 2ghz single core, witch i keep upgrading and doesnt really show much gaming.

im going to be using stock cooler for time being, eg next month funds... so wont be useing the motherboards onboard auto overclocking for time being .

i have worked this out to be £516.85 plus shipping

Many thanks for any help

Bluray films, Gaming, 3d graphics and C++ programming

Allways been a AMD man, so not considering Intel, out of my budget anyway.

that i5's bench is pretty good. deffo worth looking into!

what would be the Pro's about having the extra 2 cores? with the amd?

the only thing im thinking of is upgradeability, with the crosshair v its am3+ ready for bulldozer cpu witch is amd most likely strike back at the intel range of i's

and the Phenom eaasly overclocks to 3.8ghz with a non stock heat exchanger

nad having the extra 2core'sthe OS can certainly offload background tasks to them freeing up those precious cpu cycles for games?

i've been with amd since i was 13, and they never done me wrong, even with my amd 64bit 3200 2ghz single core, it runs crysis warhead on high under windows 7

would be sorry to leave them.

i should have given abit more detail,

when i 1st got the case back in 2007? , it came as a ATX with a upgradeable back for btx? Its got the i/o pane4l on the bottom or the other side, just wondering, alittle bit out dated with mobos and case's
