Just like to point out I have built systems before but for nearly 3 years I have had no PC desktop just a laptop. However i am ready to build again budget is £4000 yes £4000 that's all those years of not having a PC Desktop. :) I need some advice/help on the parts for the new build. I will be gaming a lot also some photo editing & some video rendering/editing. I already have the keyboard & mouse need

PC Case
Monitor
CPU
Motherboard
GPU
Ram
HDD
Power Supply

Cooling : Should I go for air or water I would like to point out another thing that I have done custom water cooling builds in the past also but only for friends never for myself.

Whoa £4000... are you sure you want to spend all of that as you could get a very good system for £2k to £3k... and leave some left over for upgrades in the future?

I would say for that budget you could definitely go for watercooling but I've only ever done air before so I'll leave that up to someone else.

How much video rendering do you do? I was going to say is it worth spending extra for an i7 but with £4000 it probably doesn't matter...

Do you need an OS?

This is using the majority of the budget, but it does have quad sli 680's, which is probably enough computing power to send a man to the moon, or on second thoughts the edge of the solar system and back. It's got the latest thunderbolt mobo, and i7 and 16gb ram just because, and air cooler (no experience with water) a very good case, 2 absolutely awesome and huge monitors, and a whopping power supply with a large amount of storage.

I have to admit this is a bit overkill with 2 27' monitors and 4 gtx680's, but why not? It would be awesome :P

Im not entirely sure on the watercooling element of the build - I've never done one, but the left over £600 could get u a nice set of Rads, cpu block, compression fittings and some decent fans.

summary
- 256gb ssd
- 3tb hdd
- 2 gtx 680 watercooled
- 2 benq 2420's

Ozzy's spec. 4 GTX 680's My days.

Im sure you won't notice if you only had 3 to be perfectly honest.

I'd go for 3 680's and add an extra screen. 3 Screens for gaming looks amazing.

Tbh originally I was going triple 690's but thought maybe that might be a teensy weensy bit overkill, and I wasn't entirely sure whether having 6 cores would work (even if it is just 3 cards), so I knocked it down to a very modest quad 680 :p

A more sensible idea would be a three screen setup with triple sli 680's imo with watercooling, as triple monitor displays are awesome. Have a look at thunderbolt boards as well, although the previously stated X79 would be a good route to look down.

All in all you could do pretty much whatever you liked and get away with it for that amount of money :)

I love it how even with a £4000 budget we can STILL go over budget... we're always saying if you just stretch another £30 more you can get this... even if you've got £4000 to start of with :P I sometimes wonder what I'd have to get to make myself think that I couldn't spend any more and what that budget would be

lol it always is that lil bit more isnt it?
why not add a 512gb ssd instead, and get the silver arrow sb-e? wont cost too much more! ;p

It is a talent. :)

to be honest, if your budget is £4000 what's an extra £30. The £30 is the shipping cost. :)

I would like to thank every single one of you i really appreciate all the help Thanks. :) I notice no one said the i7 3930k I have read it's a good cpu?

gah. need to fix my plugin... :/

Seems like a lot of money.

1155 (or even 2011), single screen (or dual screen for work), single GPU. Budget would be around £2,500 with good components, and a lot less headaches.
