Hi Folks

So it's been a while since I upgraded still running a e6700 core duo, so I think it's time to upgrade, trouble is I feel really out of the loop as regards what would be the best stuff to buy for my budget of 500-600 pounds for a gaming machine so I'm hoping you folks can help. I don't need a new case just the stuff inside, I think my psu would still have enough power as well but maybe better getting a new one.

Thanks in advance

Rob

Hi Guys

Thanks for the help, my case is one of those armor cases a huge thing sure it is atx size, my psu is an enermax but would have to check on the wattage.

The reason I'm thinking of changing my storage devices is because one of them is showing an error, currently using them in Raid and everything still works, been like this for a coulle of years though so think they really need replacing lol

will go and check the things you have suggested and will get back you on the other questions when I'm at home

thanks Rob

Enermax Infiniti 720W EIN720AWT Modular PSU

Thats my psu :-) why don't they stick the stickers on the side you can see lol

thanks Rob

practically the same tbh
my spec uses a cheaper motherboard
rjc's spec has a sli/xfire capable mobo if you ever do decide to go dual gpu (but you'll need to change your psu)

Asus Z97-K - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£14 Saving**

Could I possibly swap the gigabyte MB for the one above? Or are the gigabyte mb better value for money?

only because I am used to asus bios really? Or are all the mb bios quite similar? Think I have always had an asus board so not really seen any other bios

cheers Rob

I always tended to go with the Gigabyte board, they have a Uk RMA service and I always preferred them.

But ultimately both are good as each other.

There is not a lot between them :p

Hi Guys

sorry but there has been a change of plan, i have managed to get my hands on Q6850 extreme for free :-) I know this is quite an old chip but it's still much better than my e6700. So now im after a new graphics card, any sugestion?

I only have 4gb of ram but it can go to 1066 don't really want to get any more just incase I end up building new as I planned.

thanks Rob
