new build help plz

It doesnt support it, i can't see an option in the settings anyway.....dvd fab does use quick sync or cuda/dxva. This is why i suggested that software and the dedicated GPU to make use of quicksync and enable the ability to rip bluray as well as dvds (with a bluray drive).

There may be better programs for converting and burning to dvd, that's not something I'm bothered about really so my knowledge is limited.

Quicksync doesn't need a dedicated GPU, just needs the onboard to be active (I don't have a GPU on my rig ;)). If you want to be uber clever you can have 2 encode processes running simultaneously ;) One on the on-die Intel GPU and one on a discrete GPU :D

I know it doesn't :) I've used dvdfab with the i5s IGP and it ripped a 2 hour movie in around 20 mins if i recall (on the fly from the dvd, 2 pass encode with quicksync). The IGP isn't great (bluray playback for example) and the 6850 is a great budget GPU capable of gaming and as you rightly pointed out can be utilised by some software in clever ways :D

I'm glad jon is happy with it. That's an excellent all round rig he has there :)

Quicksync isnt a program by itself as such, its to do with the HD3000 core built-in to your CPU.

Install the Lucid and Intel graphics driver, when a program can make use of it, it will switch to the built-in core and start using it.

The official list of supported programs is here - http://www.intel.com/content/www/us...ick-sync-video/quick-sync-video-consumer.html

i knew that...(not) ..i just dloaded one of those programs will have a go l8ter ...thanks ..still not sure wot lucid meanss but i bet someone tells me soon..lol

Lucid is a little program that switches between the GFX card and the HD3000 GFX built-in to the CPU as needed.

so are the lucid driver on my drivers disc or do i have to find them... yes i have blonde days every day

Don't be too hard on yourself fella, there is quite a lot to take in. If you installed the drivers from the supplied CD they will be out of date. It's best to goto your mobos webpage and download the latest drivers there (dont worry about the BIOS and BIOS update software).

Stulids link explains what quicksync is and shows a few programs that use it (that's not all of them). Roxio could well be worth a look, i used to use it back in the day.....i prefered it over the Nero suite.

Like i said before there maybe a program you prefer to use for converting a video file to DVD format but if you intend to rip/copy from a DVD/Bluray i think you'll find dvdfab is superior.
