Hiya,

Build Spec:
CPU - QX6700
GFX - BFG 8800 GTX 768MB
RAM - Corsair Dominator PC6400
Drive 1 - 74GB Raptor
Drive 2 - 320GB Seagate

Now,
Iv got everything in the case connected to the motherboard appart from a few final things.

FIRST QUESTION
On my case (Antec 900 ultimate gaming case) there is 4 case fans. there 4 pin connectors and you COULD plug one into the end of the other (i.e - fan 2 into the back of fan 1, fan 3 into the back of fan 2 and so on) but where the heck do i connect it to? motherboard? PSU? on the back of the PSU there is about.... 4/5 "4 pin ports" but these dont fit

SECOND QUESTION
Hard drive 1, theres about 4 different ports on the back, which cables do i use to connect, and to connect to what? motherboard or PSU?
(havent looked at the 320GB but im guesing it will be the same situation...)
(The drives are SATA btw)

THIRD QUESTION
On the 8800, as you probaly know you have to use the provided connecters and connect the two onto the gfx card. on the other end of these connecters (after pluging both in) im left with 2 "4 pin" connectors from EACH, thats 4 in total, what am i meant to do with these?

hope someone can help! would like to get this working today without having to wait for cables :(

THIRD QUESTION - RESOLVED
Found a bag of cables in the PSU box  , two cables are named "PCI-E" and they fit into the power connectors FROM the card INTO the PSU, im guesing this is the right way to do it....

Still need a bit of help with the other questions, im loaded with more cables now lol :D

Plugging them all into each other is fine :) If you can do it neatly then that's what I'd do. It should be either a standard 4-pin molex, or maybe a small power connector with three pins (i swear they only have 3 pins)? If the 4 pin molex, then it just goes into the relevant connector on the PSU. If the smaller one, then you probably need to go get a converter cable which shouldn't cost much..

If your PSU has SATA power, that goes on the longer L-Shaped one. If your PSU doesn't have SATA power, then use a standart 4-pin molex on the 4-pin bit. DONT use both at the same time - use SATA power if have it, else normal 4-pin molex.

The SATA Data cable goes on the smaller L-Shaped thing and into the mothorboard. There might be 8-12 tiny little pins, they're for jumpers and do things like restrict the speed or enable SSC (you shouldn't have to do either of those though).

Hope that helps! :D

Thanks, ill give it a go soon (having munch at the mo, been at this since 8am!!!!! lol, probaly the worlds longest computer build time!)

Keep an eye out, might be back to ask more questions ;) :p :D

should e 3 connectors on back of the raptor drive. sata on left, sata power middle , and 4pin molex power on right. the sata data cable goes plugs in then you can use either sata power cable or 4pin molex power cable "DO NOT USE BOTH"

Thanks, Think i have the raptor sorted now.
I have used the 2nd and 3rd socket/port on the raptor... i have a small small "¬" sort of port going from the motherboard SATA space then the cable from there going into the 2nd port on the raptor which also looks like a small ¬ or L shape. then using the 3rd port i have a cable from that socket that plugs into the PSU...

The seagate is a little different though

anyone able to help?

oh, also, i have one of these spare, it comes from the PSU...

FANS
i connected them all into each other and put them onto the motherboard port (small circles one in the pic), that ok?

I'm a little confused there - you only have 2 cables plugged into the raptor, right? Not 3..?

If you haven't put one into your mobo already, that goes into your mobo. Else I guess it's spare!

Fans are fine

That IDE is for CD/DVD drives, unless you have SATA CD/DVD drives.

yeah, one L shaped from mobo to raptor, and one from raptor to PSU...

and for seagate its the same but its connected slightly different (using different ports because theres not as many on the seagate)

that 4 pin.... yeah, i remember puting it onto my mobo last time on THIS pc im using now when i changed the mobo, but on this new mobo theres no where for it to plug into  , didnt see any referance to it in the manual either...

that IDE, thats the blue one right? i use one of these:
CB-004-GE_400.jpg

from the dvd-rom drive to the mobo blue slot and then again use a connector from the dvd drive to the PSU then im good to go?

that 4 socket is a power socket for the motherboard i think. what motherboard do you have ???

also im pretty sure you cant plug the fans in there that socket doesnt supply power its for putting power in.

how ever lol what mothboard do you have then can say for certain just incase its a new feature im not aware off :D.

ok... well... i have everything connected now :) !!!

few things im not 100% sure if there right but i think its pretty much ready to turn on (that'll be my next prob, i bet it wont turn on lol :p )

Would like to know IF things arent plugged in/plugged in wrong, am i going to break the thing!??

aha, that 4 square pin thingy: its using a 8 pin and that comes from the PSU so it looks like its an alternative, the manual calls it:

8 pin ATX_12V power connector

so that MUST be it ;)

RE: FAN CONNECTION
Motherboard manual calls the bit i pluged the fans into "AUX PEX Power Connector" , so im guesing the fans shouldnt really be in there....

"Auxiliary Power For Graphics (PWR3)"
"The PWR3 connector is an auxiliary power connection for graphics cards. Exclisive power for the graphics card provides better graphics performance"

were the hell do i plug these fans then, psu?

thats a pic of *** back of a raptor you need to have conncted the sata lead from the mobo then eiether the L shapped power plug or the larger 4 pin power plug on left. allthough think you allready done it but just making sure :D

still not sure qbout them fans though. normallt the block of power connectors you joined together plugs into a wire connected to the psu

changed the fan from that port on the motherboard and pluged it into the PSU via a connector cable.

all is connected. am i ok to turn on?

"Would like to know IF things arent plugged in/plugged in wrong, am i going to break the thing!??"

hmmm you shouldnt brak anything no. but guess i cant garantee it 100%. normally worst that happens is it dont work. most power cables for critcal parts like mobo and gfx and that are different sizes so can only put correct one in. i allways plug the data cable in wrong way round on floppy drives lol but they allways work when yous swpa it round :)

ok, thanks, ill go fetch it from down stairs.
here goes, wish me luck :p ;)

(have a old computer in next room if i need to ask amy more questions ;) )
