Hi all,

I've put together my latest upgrade but have come across a problem which has completely stumped me.

When I turned it on for the first time the system powered up and everything appeared to be running smoothly.

I went upstairs to get the OS disc and when I got back the system turned off and now wont start again. So I it was "working" for 30-40 seconds.

The only sign of life is when the power (i.e. from the wall socket) is on there is a red light on the "power on switch" on the mobo.

Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

Double check all power connections are tight and the 8 pin for cpu power is installed.

Perhaps try a CMOS reset.

Could you list full specs :)

Hi again,

I've managed to get the PC to work in part, although it keeps turning itself off

I think it is something to do with the do with the power connections to the mobo so I have re-connected them and re-worked the wiring so that there is more slack but it has since lost power.

I then disconnected each wire, testing the power 1 connection at a time and it did not reboot, I went to get a drink and when I returned hey presto its on

What is the likely hood that the mobo or psu isn't working properly?

My new system is an
OCZ 850w gold modular
Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68
i5-2500k
msi 570gtx
8gig gskill 1600

Still having problems with the PC losing power.

It was working for 4+ hours and successfully completed the stress tests that I put it under, with the CPU being 45c under load.

When it loses power now it immediately restarts.

With it working for such a long time between fails i'm getting quite fed up as I thought i'd fixed the problem.

I've read the PSU guide in the sticky and done everything but the meter readings. Is there any way I can test the mobo and PSU connections without a meter reader?
