Hi all

So I been getting a few parts together for a new build... Got it built last night and everything powers on, just one problem, nothing displays and my peripherals do not light up....

Basically, when I press the power button, my RGB ram lights up, the AIO fan spins, case fans also spin but no display and the GPU fans aren't spinning...

I've tried different HDMI slot on GPU, Tried the other 8 pin power connection on GPU but still nothing...

Cleared CMOS, no luck with that either

I'm pretty sure it's not PSU issues as its power everything else...

Ryzen 1600
ASUS TUF Gaming B450 PLUS
16gb DDR4 3200mhz Corsair Vengence Pro
RX580 8gb MSI ARMOUR
Corsair CX450M

Does the motherboard have a inbuilt GPU?

if not you got a spare GPU you can try?

Reseated GPU?

Try GPU in other PCIE lane?

Edit: modular PSU? Are the GPU power leads firmly connected at BOTH ends?

No on board graphics with this one

Just tried it in the 2nd lane, nothing different....

I've reseated the cables at both ends (GPU and PSU)

I don't have a second GPU to test with, I think it will be the GPU, my gut instinct was the GPU

:(
 
It's certainly looking like that.

I'm trying to think if there is anything else basic you could try first.... Does the GPU have any lights that should come on? The fans not spinning up alone doesn't necessarily mean it's dead as not all GPUs spin up the fans until a certain temp.
 
Is all the gear new or second hand?

Internal fans etc. powering only means that you are getting 12v from the PSU through the board, not that the CPU is working etc.
 
The only other thing I can suggest and I seriously doubt it'll do anything but take the BIOS battery out for about half an hour put it back and try and boot it, maybe the BIOS got stuck, it does happen.

I can't think of much else.

True, nothing on the GPU like lights etc which would've been helpful

The CPU, GPU and PSU are second hand... PSU is from members Market, the CPU and GPU are from the Bay...

I get the motherboard RGB lights also

I'll take it out now and leave it for a bit.. Fingers crossed

Quite literally any of the parts could be to blame, do you get the same result with the RAM removed?

Disconnect all the peripherals, keyboard and mouse etc. disconnect the SSD/HDD and try one RAM module and cycle through all of the slots.

Yeah same result with RAM out and one in etc... I'll try unplugging buts like you've said

I'd opt to borrow a GPU if you can, just to rule that out. Although it is hard to be convinced that could be the issue given the nature of the parts, it is the easiest one to rule out and will help you diagnose it faster. if it turns out to be the GPU then bingo.

Just done all the unplugging and booted from minimal parts, still no luck... I'll see if anyone has a GPU I can borrow locally, if not I'll have to buy one :p
 
So I have just put the stock cooler on instead of the AIO, now nothing starts up, all I get is motherboard lights but no power
 
UPDATE:

Stripped the system down and started again, Upon inspection the CPU had one pin bent in the corner but it was such a small bend you really had to look closely, I managed to bend it back using my wifes business card :p Put the system back together again and now its working like a brand new system :cool: Looks like the GPU was fine in the end....

NOTE TO SELF: CHECK CPU PINS IN FUTURE

I did, When i received it i did think a pin was bent but thought it was ok as it wasn't realllllly bent, i even messaged the seller to say my concerns to him, Now i've learnt the hard way i think next time i'll do something about it straight away :p
