I've just been putting my new pc together today and it works fine unless I add a 2nd card for crossfire. If I do I get a really really loud screeching noise.

It sounds as if it is coming from just under the graphics card. Everything else is fine, I'm using it now!

Spec:

i5 2500k
Asrock Extreme4 P67
2 x Radeon 6950
Corsair AX750 Gold PSU

Does anyone have any idea what it could be or a solution?

Cheers

Edit: Squeal Fixed

Thanks but it did it straight from switching it on, before windows had loaded.

I've removed both cards, unplugged the PCI-e cables from the PSU, re-attached them and installed the cards again.

It seems to have stopped now, maybe it was a loose connection though I've not heard a noise like that from a PC before!

I don't think so, I think it was a loose connection. It was much too loud for that I guess.

The PSU will have to go back though. It wasn't bought from here but when it turned up the seal was broken and a couple of cables were missing (which I didn't need).

I hoped it would be ok as didn't really want the hassle of returning it.

However, anything which requires extra juice to the system produces squeals from the PSU and whining noises!

graphics cards make that noise when a power plug isnt connetced or loose. :)

That must have been what it was, just never heard it before :)

Maybe it was the fan?
Shouldn't be on a new one though.

Talking of fans the front 180mm fan didn't spin at first. Took it out and manually rotated it and it seemed ok. Put it back in and checked there was nothing in it which there wasn't. Started it back up and bang, fan blade snapped. :(

Guess I will need a new one sent out.

Everything else seems ok though! /crossesfingers
