First Overclock, Q6600 .Tuniq Tower, high temps

Just finished my first build.

Noticed I had very high temps with my Tuniq Tower, so I went and reset, got idle temps in and around 40C.

Gone for my first overclock.

Using a MSi Neo2-FR.

These temps seem damn high for a £30 heatsink.......... ?

Any Ideas?

ahh, I used the thermal paste supplied with the Tuniq Tower.

Used the credit card method to apply it...

ahhh... that could be it in then... have an Antec P160 and the cooling in it is pretty bad, have a 120m fan blowing air out (from the heatsink)...

ahh okies :-)

Does it matter what I have it on 375 or 380?

Also CoreTemp and Windows report my CPU @ 3.4ghz (427x8)

While, CPU-Z says it's 380x8 ~ 3ghz...

Is this normal?

But to begin with unless you've done it before or feel confident enough to do it. i'd go with just doing the tuniq base and reapplying it.

I've tried to reset the heatsink twice now. Don't feel confident to lap either of them.. think i'll just put up with it.

Ran Prime95 last night for around 8hours, on full load the cores were at around 65-67C... is that ok?
