Hey guys,

Just moved into a new build on a new estate. Fibre or any other type of broadband/phone line won't be available for a few months as it's still a building site. I am currently eating through my mobile phone data as I game and stream a fair bit.

What am I best doing? I have seen Three do Unlimited data sims on rolling contracts for about £30 a month. You can tether of that, however I have read this is often capped.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

T_IT

When we recently moved we used Vodafone pay as you go 50gb, Netflix and the like chew through the data allowance though, everything else was a 12 month contract

three is 30gb tethered. unlimited on the phone only.
ee do some large data plans(upto 200gb) but you have to sign upto 18months.
other than that there isn't really any(at least what i know)
three do 40gb mobile broadband for £24 per month 30 days recurring.

however, if you want it to watch videos then non are suitable as you can easily get through several 100GB, at least in high quality, low quality it isnt so bad.

do any phones have hdmi or pass through so you can "watch on phone" when its actually being played on tv. that would get over threes tethering limit.

edit - android has cast screen, so if you have a compatible tv, that might be an option.

I had to use Three’s tethering for a few months in the same situation and it was fine. Just forget about streaming video and keep Steam in offline mode.

I managed gaming fine over 4g, it was the updates that killed it, weekly 7gb pubg :). Took us a month to get fibre from moving in

Three do 100 gig a month for £30 but you have to sign up to a 12 month contract, this offer is not online you have to go in store or phone three sales team. I read you can pay £60 upfront for the modem and then you don’t have to have a 12 month contract but I couldn’t get that offer.
I live in a new build property with crap adsl speeds and no hope of fibre, also it has go binge so Netflix doesn’t come out of your data it’s been a god send for me.

Is the go binge for full hd, or even 4k or just sd quality on netflix?

When i last had to do what op needs, i used my three tether (when they didn't have the go binge) and used 30GB of data in 2 days (binged some marvel shows)

I got my mum a little EE Mywifi thing when they built a new house and were waiting for Sky to connect them up. Monthly contract, though not cheap, but it did the job for her.

I suspect your usage will be higher than hers though, she tends to just use the internet and emails on her tablet, no streaming or big updates.
