Specing a new build looking for a Ryzen 2700x with 16GB ram on a good motherboard. Will be reusing my Nvidia 1060 and a quad port gig nic card and some drives i have.
Not that bothered on overclocking at the min but would like to be able to swap out the new zen chips when they land. Prefer to run on air for a quiet system is the stock cooler ant good ?

Here is what i have so far, will this work well ? Should i change anything ?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,050.53 (includes shipping: £14.10)

It’s for a do a lot of things pc, mainly office based stuff with multi programs open. Some VM work and the of bit of non intensive gaining. Also a bit of photoshop/ light room and video editing but only short clips.also can’t wait for new zen chips as my current old system is failing bad. Will be upgrading graphics later on no doubt and running duel 26" monitors that need an upgrade soon aswell.

Would this be a better option as you get a free SSD aswell ?

you'll find 9700k and 2700x match with video editing work , 9700k can pull away if overclocked to 5ghz all cores and then 9900k pulls ahead even more

I would say the photo editing is probs the least thing it will be for as in maybe once a month or less i use it. Main usage is Large powerpoint and documents and a bit of no mans sky gaming oh and some statistical analysis soon with spss for Uni.

How urgent do you need the build?

Waiting for Zen2 might be a good idea

If you need the PC now, grab a top of the range X470 mobo and a 2600 and then upgrade to a 3000 series Ryzen in a few months time. Intel's Z390 is a dead socket.

Well my 10 year old plus system is dieing, a;ready lost 2 memory slots on the MB and as i use it every day for work i need it asap realy before it goes. Also put ith through the books this side of the tax year would be good.

Technically AM4 is dead socket . DDR 5 .
AM4 will have 2 gens of Zen...
Zen 1 , 14nm and 12nm
And Zen 2 , 7nm and 7nm +

No really jump in design between ryzen 1000 and 2000. Bit like intel going from 4tg gen to 6th gen

Though ryzen 3000 does look exciting and will spice everything up a little :)

Personally waste to spend £200 then to sink in another £200 in a years time. Just move to ryzen 4000 in a years time :)
