HDMI Problem with New HTPC Build

Hi guys, Just finish building my new HTPC, and going to install Window 8 onto it after I get myself a wireless keyboard and mouse, and I was wonder if I can connect the HTPC to my HDTV using HDMI cable, or do I need to use DVI cable to install window and graphic driver first before I can use HDMI cable? any help will be most welcome, Thanks in Advance....

Hi Mazinger ,

Yes you can no problem. Depends how you are using the htpc. If your using a graphics card then you would connect it from there to your hdmi in your TV. If your using the IGPU then you would need to connect it to the hdmi on your motherboard.

Either way select the hdmi channel that its connected to on your TV and boot. Its should work fine and allow you to install drivers once your up and running.

We need a little more info on specs and operating system to help more mate.

Regards

Thanks for the reply matey, here is the spec of my HTPC..

Intel I5-3570K
MSI Z77MA-G45
Silveratone GD05B
Kingston Hyper X 120GB SSD
Corsair CX500M
Sapphire HD7850 2GB ATI GPU
Kingston Genesis 8GB 1600MHz Rams
Panasonic 32in TV
Window 8 64bits

I was hoping to connect HTPC to TV using HDMI cable before I install Window, just not sure if it will work as I always used DVI cable with my other Desktop PC builds, this will be the first time I use HDMI connection...

Need some help here guys, tried to Installed Window 8 to this new build HTPC, connecting it to TV using HDMI cable, that doesn't work as all I get is a Blank Screen, so connected the HTPC to TV using a DVI to VGA cable (Panasonic TV only have VGA input), That work, and i got window installed, also all the drivers too, now reconnect both using HDMI cable again, It will remain Blank Screen once turned on until Window 8 is Loaded, then everything is fine and working great, the only problem is now I can't get into BIOS as once turned on the HTPC all I get is a blank screen, even if I tried pressing Del to get in to BIOS, but it will just load into Window, had anyone else have this problem before? or am I doing something wrong? is this MB/GPU or TV problem? any help will be very Grateful...

Someone said there was an incompatibility with the AMD 7000 series cards and Panasonic TV's which means you are unable to see the BIOS on the TV.

Doesn't affect the older 5000 and 6000 series cards.

Oh, If that the case I'm less worry, just a hassle when try to get into BIOS as i have to change cable to do so, Shame because I need Graphic cards with the power socket at the rear of the card due to the case height, and there isn't many cards that had the socket at rear (specially Nvidia cards), Thanks for the advice matey...
