I have now purchased all the parts for my new-build. It is an i5-4690 3.5GHz (stock cooler) with 8GB RAM, no GFX card. I have a slim Bluray drive, a 256GB SSD and a 2.5" 1TB HGST HDD to go in. PSU is an Antec VP450 (450W).

Now I'm getting slightly confused about airflow. Does anyone have one of these cases? I take it the PSU has a large intake fan on one side, then an outtake fan at the back (in the rear, by the plug). So, I want to have that intake fan pointing towards my CPU? In other words, continuing the airflow away from the CPU? And my CPU cooler will be drawing air away from the CPU, also? Is that correct?

Bear with me -- it's been a good few years since I built my last system, or did any dabbling :p I've just realised how damn small this case is!

Is what I'm saying making sense for the optimum airflow? I'm just getting slightly worried as it's so damn hot, I was showing my mate the case and he was like 'where do the fans go?' :p

Thanks!

The PSU is pulling air out of the case.
The stock Intel cooler is pushing air onto the Heatsink, conflicts of flow here.
The case has vents on one side that are designed to draw the air into the case while the PSU exhausts the hot air.

You can mod the stock Intel cooler to draw air away from the CPU and into the PSU or buy a new cooler that you can just flip the fan to accomplish this.

This works better in these cases than flipping the fan on the PSU (to draw air into the case) and hoping positive pressure evacuates the hot air through the tiny vents.
It will run much cooler doing this if there is any software you run that is heating up the CPU.

If all you do is browse on it, I wouldn't worry about it.
That makes sense. So, you're saying that the stock CPU cooler is blowing air onto the CPU, not sucking away from? But think I'd be ok with that? What's the norm for decent CPU coolers? Blowing or sucking? :p

Probably the most intensive thing it will be doing (besides some mild Photoshop) is ripping/encoding from Blurays. That won't be very often though..

Hot weather! Yeah I haven't even built the machine yet. I'll go with standard setup/cooler and keep an eye on temps I guess. If it's too hot I'll think about a better cooler.
