Hi all,
I just recently bought a new build from OcUK after having my last rig (also bought from here in 2007!) die. Basically the last rig just stopped turning on altogether-- no signs of life from a power-on, no mobo LED's or POST etc. So, I assumed it was a motherboard failure and bought:
Radon Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case - Black
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gbs 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX)
etc. in order to completely upgrade from my dead Q6600/DDR2 build and get up and running again. Perhaps foolishly I saved the PSU from my old system (Corsair HX850w) and thought I could salvage that.
Well, to cut a long story short... after setting up the new build and hitting 'On', it doesn't turn on either. Same problem as my last rig. Using immense powers of logical deduction, I'm guessing my PSU is just as dead as my old mobo. Stupidly, however, I did not budget for a new high-quality PSU and now I'm a little stretched for cash. So, I purchased the standard Corsair CX600w power-supply... their bottom-end one.
Simple question then, really: is it right to assume that this will fix my problem, once and for all? And, is the PSU good enough and reliable enough to power my computer? I don't want any more power-supply headaches after all this effort and expenditure! I'll look into getting a HX650w in about 6 months, when I can afford the tech-splurging again.
Thanks for any feedback!
