Hello guys,

Just put my new rig together,

Piledriver 8350 and 7870.

Now when I load up a game the system shuts down and I have to reset the system from the PSU itself.

My PSU has no PCI-E 6 pin slots, and only 3 4pin Molex slots. So I am running an extender from one to a two pin molex which connects to a 2x4pin molex to 6 pin and another one from the existing 2 4pin molexs.

I am certain this is the issue, but just looking for reasurance this won't work? Can it work?

PSU is a cheapy 500W thing.

Can't remember, it's from a local computer shop. £20 bad boy. Think it might be an Everest?

Does seem like a power issue, but then it could be something completly different.

Replacing the PSU would be the first thing you should do.

+1

Sound like it is shutting down due to too much load, I would try to avoid using the computer until it has been replaced encase the next time it overloads instead of shutting off it goes bang, and takes components with it.

Already have done! Gutting!

Any thoughts on a power supply people?

Budget is tight, £50 good enough for a PSU these days?

The one component you should never cheap out on, £210 GPU, £20 PSU...why lol.

Dont have money to buy a good one just wait :p.

Any of these would be ok, too bad all the good ones have been "Due Soon..." for the past 2 month.
