New Build LiteOn iHAS624 not showing up

Fired up my new build yesterday and couldn't get win 7 on it, seems the computer couldn't see my LiteOn iHAS624 dvd drive, anyway got windows on it using a external drive.

Is my new liteon drive knackered?
it has power, when i press eject the tray goes out and immediately goes back in ,it does not show up on 'my computer'. ive checked power / sata cables and tried sata cable on different connection, still no joy. any ideas?

does it show in BIOS?

ahh just fixed it !
i replaced the new sata cable that came with the dvd drive with the sata 3 cable that came with the motherboard and it worked straight away !, ( thought these cables were meant to be the same?)
another odd thing is that now my hard drive activity light is flickering as it should be but before i changed the cable it was on all the time and did not flicker, odd? !
