The R9 290 comes with 8GB free Ram. Also OCUK deal with any warranty claims with powercolor should you need to use it. The warranty support with xfx is supposed to be pretty poor.

Changed the monitor to a 144Hz.

Swapped the psu to the EVGA which has a 10 year warranty.

The Phanteks is a great case for the money. There is a windowed version as well if you it.

Added a H105 cooler. Something like the Raijintek Ereboss would be a cheaper alternative.

The Crucial MX100 is a very good SSD, and is £50 cheaper than the Evo.

Thank you lee32uk much appreciated. I will go ahead and order the build you suggest. I take it a computer novice should be able to pop all this together? Is it just a question of plugging it into the right connections? Should I assemble it in a particular order?

It isn't as difficult as it might look :) The main thing is to take your time when building it. Also make sure you ground yourself before touching any components. I usually just touch a bare metal part of the case.

Here is a complete pc build if you want something to watch beforehand.

You can skip to 40 minutes in, if you don't want to watch the Guy waffling on :D

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. Things were hectic and I never got round to buying the build that Lee32uk recommended. I want to order this weekend but the graphics card with the 8GB memory is out of stock. Can you suggest an alternative to keep this on budget?

Many thanks

Thanks stulid. Can you point me towards RAM as well?

If you go with the H105 cooler or another water cooler then you can go with this Ram.

Also if you go with the GTX 970 then you can drop the psu down to 750W, as they don't use as much power as the R9 290 cards. If you don't plan on running two cards, then a 550W is enough.

The MSI one would also be a nice match colour wise (It is pre-order, but listed as overdue)

Hi Lee32uk, the 105 water cooler is out of stock. Can you suggest an equivalent that is currently available for order?

Cheers

Hi

The GPU is also out of stock so they might hold your order until then depending on how they ship things.

Most of the 240/280 water coolers are out of stock, so you can either order the H105 and wait (They usually get replenished pretty quick) or go with an Air cooler such as the Phanteks below.

You would need low profile ram also, so something like the Kingston would be ok.

If you are going with the Phanteks case then the cooler will fit in fine.
