I'm after a good future proof gaming system that is fast enough to take anything and run smoothly like a lot of people wants these days ... anyway my setup is as follows and i need to know is all this fully compatible with the memory i have chosen, i have the case, hard drives etc but just need the following to upgrade, the only thing i have included yet is the cpu cooler which i have open for suggestions :D

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ 2.40GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail (CP-171-AM)
Price: £374.95 (£440.57 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX nForce 590 SLi (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-142-AS)
Price: £114.95 (£135.07 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) (MY-108-CS)
Price: £174.95 (£205.57 Including VAT at 17.5%)

XFX GeForce 7950 GX2 Extreme Edition 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT71U-ZDF9) (GX-084-XF)
Price: £418.95 (£492.27 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Total: £1,273,48

The only cooler that is out that supports AM2 is the new Zalman one (Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower) though im sure some new ones will be available in the very near future.

The rig looks ace, it does look as though everything will work perfectly and if it does....then boy is it gonna blow you away........:D

good luck with the rig, see what others say about the RAM

im getting the xxx edition of the gfx card gotta be worth the guaranteed extra speed for £30

AM2, good on you!

As of HSF, you are stuck with the stock cooler provided by AMD because there's no other out yet that can fit the Socket AM2 bracket/mount.

Everything else looks good/compatible :D

Looks nice but personally I would save a bit of money and go for the AMD X2 4400+ instead. Wouldn't take much to OC it to 4800+ speeds.

But otherwise great :)

Cheers guys for the quick replies, i will go for the xxx edition of the gfx card, might aswell for the extra £30 :D

All i need to know now is the ram fully compatible with everything then i can order the lot :D

& the CNPS9500-AM2's on Pre-Order unlike the other items on your list :p

Consensus view is that the m/board can be chosy wrt memory but that the Corsair is the best of the bunch and on the ASUS QVL. Don't try and save any money there unless you're brave and/or patient.
