New build need advice

Hey all ive decided to build another Gaming pc for myself as mine is now out of date a bit..

So far i have :
zalman z11 plus tower
Msi z97 gaming 7 mobo
psu from my old unit corsair 500w

The ram i have in this machine is ddr3 corsair 8gb so i may be using that for the time being

Im just undecided what to get for cpu,graphics card?

i wanna spend around £150 each on the cpu and graphics card maybe stretch a little more (without the misses finding out )

If anyone can point me in the direction of some sound deals etc id be very grateful.

PS i know its not the best spec but im a nit skint before xmas...!

r9 280 with the i5 3570k? both can be had for £309 so only a little over budget and both half decent for most games. or if you spend an extra £60 overall you can get the 4690k and r9 280x

An i5 3570K will not fit a Z97 motherboard, its socket 1155 vs 1150.

I would go for the 4690k as well, seems to be the best i5 from what I read and seen from reviews.

I've looked around and cant seem to find the sizes of that graphics card , I'm worried as to whether it would fit in my tower or not the space i have to play with is up to 290mm
